The Arthur family lost their house and everything inside to a fire this past weekend. They obviously have a lot of needs at this point. The 6th grade classes are collecting monetary donations to be used for gas cards, Wal-mart gift cards, Walgreens gift cards (for medications) and other gift cards as their needs change. We also are needing board games & card games to alleviate stress while looking for a new place to live. If anyone knows of any rental properties available for a family of 5, please let us know and we'll pass on the information. Once the family finds a place to stay, we'll work on getting the house furnished. They've been given a lot of clothing/shoes already, and as they go through that and find that they need more of something, we'll pass on clothing sizes. Thank you so much for your willingness to help! Donations can be made to any 6th grade teacher, or to the High School or Elementary offices. If you have questions, plese contact

Heyworth Elementary celebrated the 100th day of school on Friday, January 29th. Some classes made special crafts out of 100 items, while others had students bring in 100 of something. This is always a fun day, and this year was no exception! Above, Mrs. Quinton's class used the items for estimation, weight, sorting activities before gluing them onto papers to make their 100th Day pictures. Mrs. Wright's class made funny hats to celebrate the day. Here you can see them showing off their collections. Mrs. Warren's 1st graders and Mrs. Corbly's 3rd graders worked together to read 100 books on the 100th day of school! WOW! Way to go Hornets! |
