St. Jude Math -a-thon Begins on January 17th.
Our fifth and sixth grade students at HES are joining St. Jude Children’s Hospital in the fight against childhood cancer by participating in a St. Jude Math-A-Thon starting on January 17th. Let’s continue the tradition of giving; HGS has collected $85,000 in the past 25 years!
This two week-long event helps refine their academic skills while teaching them that they have the power to help others. Your involvement is a big part of making this program a success, and participation is easy. Please visit the link below if you are interested in giving to this great cause. The 5th and 6th graders at HES would like to thank you for any contributions made to help the children at St. Jude.
Library News! #1 New York Times bestselling author Aaron Reynolds will be visiting Heyworth Elementary on March 2nd! He will be giving two presentations to students: one for K-2nd, another for 3rd-6th. Aaron Reynolds has written many highly acclaimed books
for kids including CREEPY PAIR OF UNDERWEAR, DUDE!, THE INCREDIBLY DEAD
PETS OF REX DEXTER, the Caldecott Honor Medalist CREEPY CARROTS!, and the epic
fantasy chapter series FART QUEST. His hilarious and hands-on presentations are rumored to
keep kids spellbound and we can't wait to welcome him. Our Librarian, Ms. Harris, has been reading his books to students and sharing information about him in order to prepare our students.
Mr. Reynolds is willing to sign copies of his books for our students, so keep your eyes open for a special book flyer to come home later this month with details on how to purchase a copy and prepare it to be signed.

IMPORTANT JUNIOR HIGH YEARBOOK SUBMISSION AND ORDERING INFORMATION
The Junior High Yearbook is now available for sale in the online store (see below for link and code) and by order form. Order forms will be sent home on January 9, 2023. The cost of each yearbook is $18 and they will be handed out at the end of this school year. We typically hand the yearbook out for autographing on the last week of school.
Parents of 8th grade students, we have extended the ordering deadline for “Shout Outs” and encourage your participation. We understand that students don’t necessarily want to be mentioned at this stage in life but will look back on it in years to come and it will be a great memento for them. The cost for each “Shout Out” is $10. The “Shout Out” is designed to be a simple congratulatory message for their final year of middle school.
Additionally, we are asking that 8th grade students submit a baby photo to be used for the yearbook. The students and staff really enjoy this part of the yearbook trying to figure out “Who’s Who”. The only baby photo requirements are that they be a good quality photo that is between birth and 3 years of age. You can email the photos to Mrs. Fields at firstname.lastname@example.org or send them in with the students name marked on the back.
Finally, the Yearbook Club would like to thank you for your continued support. A lot of hard work goes into creating these memories that your student will cherish in years to come. We are very excited to show off the HJHS 2022-2023 Yearbook! If you have any questions, please feel free to email our club sponsor Mrs. Kelly Fields at email@example.com.

These pictures can be professional pictures or simply a picture that you like. If you choose not to submit a secondary photo, we will use the pictures taken by Inter-State Studios (i.e. your ID photos). Additionally, we are asking that students submit a "baby photo" to be used for the yearbook. Finally, seniors are being asked to submit their senior quotes. These quotes must be school appropriate and are subject to review. The quote cannot be extensively long, so choose your words wisely! To submit these photos and senior quotes, please email Mr. Kirkton at firstname.lastname@example.org. Make sure to include the name of the senior in the email so they can easily be placed in the correct spots. We will accept submissions through the first week of April, so you have plenty of time to get those turned in.
The Heyworth High School Yearbook is officially available through our digital store. You are able to order starting now and it will run through May 1st. There are limited quantities of the yearbook and the only way to guarantee one for your student is to purchase it early. We did sell out last year and we expect to sell out again this year. The cost of the base-level book is $50, but there are additional options for personalization. The yearbook staff would like to thank you for your continued support and we are excited to show off all the great content we have in store for this year's publication.
